In 2000, English singer turned actress Billie Piper covered the song for her second and final anthology Walk of Life. Piper's version was to be the 4th single from the album, Piper states in her 2006 book Growing Pains that she told Virgin Records not to bother releasing "The Tide Is Loftier" as a unmarried because she was worn out and didn't want to sing whatsoever more than after appearing in court against a adult female named Juliet Peters who had given Piper, her friends and her family numerous death threats. A unmarried mix and remixes were deputed only never released. Piper also samples the line "Do you have a girlfriend?" taken from her second number-ane hit unmarried "Girlfriend". Because of this, the producers of the rail recycled the production for Diminutive Kitten's very similar recording of the vocal in 2002, and Piper retired from music for an acting career shortly after.
